Quantum research within the Center of Excellence in Photonics

The Institute for Applied Physics primarily conducts basic research, while the Fraunhofer IOF focuses primarily on application-oriented research and cooperation with industrial partners. Both institutes are located on the Beutenberg campus in Jena and are additionally strongly connected by their research areas and also by the joint leadership by Prof. Andreas Tünnermann. Both institutes complement each other excellently and create (among others also for quantum technologies) a seamless innovation chain from basic research to application-oriented development and implementation in relevant use cases.

The Leistungszentrum Photonik (Center of Excellence in Photonics) is a joint initiative of several research institutes in Jena. With partners from industry, they develop new solutions with light for important future fields.
